Me and my friend visited OG Variar and Sons Bakery in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru last evening. According to my colleague’s brother, butter biscuits, cashew biscuits and rusks had to be tried.
My friend’s cousin said that the place is “walkable distance” from Rajajinagar metro. But then, the place is NOT so walkable distance from the Rajajinagar metro station. But that’s the nearest metro station to reach this place. I guess we took around 15-20 minutes to walk from the metro station to the bakery.
The minute I saw the bakery, I felt some old vibes. The bakery looks vibrant and full of life. It has that creamy colour paint and steel structures. Only thing we felt is that, there’s no space to sit and eat. You have to compromise this one shortcoming. But then it’s not a cafe, it’s a bakery. We cannot expect any place to sit.
There are sufficient staff members to cater to the customers. All of them understand Kannada and English. We tried their veg puff and bread toast. I am not a fan of puff, hence didn’t like it much. On the other hand, bread toast was very nice. I guessed they put potatoes also into the toast, apart from onion and other veggies. Veg puff had good fresh veg stuffing.
Next, I purchased for home – butter biscuits, cashew biscuits, plum cake and banana cup cake. After coming home, I tried their plum cake and I must say this is something worth it. It’s filled with dry fruits and tastes so good. The banana cup cake also tasted good.
