After using the mop sticks to mop the house or other places, it’s important to clean them and dry them properly in sunlight. Yet, at times the mop sticks stink with some bad smell. The possible reasons may be:
- It was not washed after using. It was not dried in sunlight after washing.
- It was used to mop milk or coffee or tea or eggs of lizard or cat shit or any other such organic matter.
Prevention: avoid using your mop while mopping milk spillage or when you know there is some animal waste.
Once your mop has started stinking, better wash it a few times using detergent or any washing liquid. Rinse it several times. And once done, keep the mop in sunlight for a day or two. The inside of the mop brush may not be exposed to the sun. So keep changing the position and expose the inner part of the brush to sun.
